Our Malaysian young actress Joey Leong makes a name for herself in the Chinese film industry after her outstanding debut role in horror film Blood Ties. Her chilling portrayal of a demon-possessed girl bagged her a Best Actress nomination at the 2009 Asian Festival of First Films.
In 2014, we worked together with her family to throw an exclusive private surprise party for her 20th birthday. Just like Britney’s song, “I’m not a girl, not yet a woman”, Joey is at that age where she is very much still a little girl at heart but being in her industry, she matures faster than most of her peers.
The ceiling is adorned with a sky full of metallic pink helium balloons with curly winding streamers. The streamers make a beautiful focal point whichever angle you take pictures from.
Joey’s birthday cake is a gorgeous two-tier fondant cake topped with edible decorative flower in baby pink and white.
Gorgeous pink hydrangea in crystal glass lined the entire length of the dining table creating a beautiful tablescape; further enhancing the aura of the space.
Soft pink and yellow rose petals decorated the table top. Scented candles is used to create a soothing and calming atmosphere.
Joey recalls fondly, “This is like a dream. It is such a beautiful surprise. I love everything about today. The decoration is beautifully and meticulously done. A girl can never have too many flowers and today, I am in a dream garden filled with the most beautiful flowers possible. Kudos to the team who put their heart and soul into making my birthday a memorable one”.

Joey is Malaysia’s sweetheart. We love her and it is our upmost pleasure to be part of this surprise. While it is easy and fun to create the theme and décor to suit her personality, we had to be careful not to go overboard as Joey is very humble and is a person of simplicity. We are glad she loves our arrangement and we wish Joey the very best and more amazing birthdays to come.
